"There is no doubt" - Leeds United title-winner on team's biggest strength, next signings…

A Leeds United title-winner has saluted the team’s biggest strength and looked ahead to what might be next.

Former Whites star Tony Dorigo has saluted Leeds United’s biggest strength and suggested the next steps forward with a Howard Wilkinson era example.

Dorigo joined Leeds from Chelsea following the club’s fourth-placed finish on their top flight return of the 1990-91 season under Wilkinson and one year later the Whites were crowned champions.

The game is clearly a different beast these days but Dorigo feels a similar approach can still be taken 35 years on as Leeds gear up for a second season back in the Premier League after their 14th-placed finish.

Dorigo believes the team’s unity has been their biggest strength, the former left back hailing boss Daniel Farke’s work as part of a season in which the Whites were safe with three games still to play.

Similar to his playing days, the former England international believes signing players to now take the team to the next level is key over the summer.

Speaking to the YEP, Dorigo was asked what he had thought to the job Farke had done and said: "Absolutely amazing.

"If you gave me that at the start of the season I'd have snapped your hand off.

"But I also look at some of the other points we should have got.

"For me it's always about the individuals that come together and make a team and I think that's been our strength.

"It's not about individuals, it's about the whole team coming together and I look at the team and they really do fight for each other and the shirt and for the city.

"I think it's fantastic.

"There are no egos there, they all want to do well for each other and I think that's why we made it with three games to go and have done so well."

Pressed on what might be next, Dorigo reasoned: "I think what is important is that we're a club on the up and we are improving.

"I look back to my time at Leeds and if you think how Howard Wilkinson came in in the second division we got certain players to get you out, certain players to get to fourth, certain players to win the title.

"It is constantly moving, it's a constantly changing feast, and there is no doubt that the club will be looking to improve where it can.

"It's as simple as that and that is exciting."
