“I’ll be Wolves player after WC” – Loanee insists he’s returning to Molineux amid transfer links

Wolverhampton Wanderers‘ Saša Kalajdžić insists he isn’t focusing on the latest rumours of Molineux exit.

The Austria international spent this season on loan at LASK and earlier this month, he was open to extending his stay.

That didn’t happen as the Wolves man already said goodbye to the Austrian side. As of now, he has return to the English club, who dropped out of the Premier League.

The striker suffered a serious injury on his Wolves debut in September 2022, forcing him to miss most part of that season. He sustained another serious injury in April 2024 and was out for over 400 days.

Since regaining full fitness, he struggled for minutes at Wolves. Therefore, they sent him out on loan this season. The 28-year-old managed seven goals and 11 assists from 27 matches for LASK.

Wolves man happy with form and fitness

Saša Kalajdžić has been speaking about his performances at LASK this season and gives an update on his fitness. Laola1 have relayed his comments.

The Wolves owned player says it was “perfect for me personally” at the Austrian club. He is also happy the efforts put in to improve his fitness has paid off.

“I definitely think there’s still plenty of room for improvement. They always say it takes as long to get back as it took to recover from injury. And I’m not there yet,” he said.

“My body is handling it brilliantly. This is the logical return on the significant investments I’ve made in my fitness.”

Austrian not focusing on transfer links

Earlier this week, Sport Witness covered claims from Austria that Saša Kalajdžić is a hot target for Schalke this summer.

The frontman reveals he has been in regular contact with his parent club and plans to return to Molineux after the World Cup.

“There’s a loan department; I have to fill out forms weekly and am in constant contact with the physios. I’ve also spoken with the sporting director. They’ve been here a few times to watch me play. It’s always been positive,” Kalajdžić explained.

“After the World Cup, I’ll be a Wolverhampton player. As things stand now, I’ll be going back.”

On the exit links, he added: “For me personally, what happens after the World Cup is secondary. Anything other than Austria is irrelevant right now.”

“There have been 1,000 rumours in my career. They don’t bother me anymore. I try to live in the here and now.”

Wolves need to make decision

The player’s contract expires in 2027, and failing to sell this summer will see Wolves risk losing him for nothing next year.

Therefore, Wolves have to decide whether to sell or retain the Austrian and offer him an extension.
