"There's a chance..." - Journalist says Euro giants could move for Rashford after Gordon join…

The future of Marcus Rashford at Manchester United is non-existent, but where he will play his football next season has now been plunged into doubt.

The England international spent this season on loan at Barcelona and enjoyed a fine campaign, registering 14 goals and 10 assists in all competitions to help the club lift a second consecutive La Liga title.

But despite his excellent form, the Catalan giants are yet to trigger the £26m option to buy that was included in the deal with the Red Devils, and have now splashed a stunning £70m to sign his Three Lions compatriot Anthony Gordon, who is at his best in the same position as Rashford.

In addition to that, Barcelona have submitted a formal £87m bid to sign forward Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid, sparking concern that they are prioritising their budget on other players rather than the 28-year-old.

Rashford Future in Doubt

While it's clear that Rashford doesn't have a future at Old Trafford, should Barcelona not trigger their option to buy, then the forward would be expected to report for pre-season training at Carrington after the World Cup should another destination not materialise.

But while writing a column for the Manchester Evening News, journalist Steven Railston has revealed there is 'a chance' that another European giant could enter the race for Rashford's signature after recent developments.

"It feels like there's a chance of Bayern Munich enquiring about Rashford now that Anthony Gordon is on his way to Barcelona," he wrote.

"Bayern wanted to sign Gordon before Barca swooped for the Newcastle winger, so they are in the market for a left winger, and have signed a handful of Premier League players over the last few years."

Bayern's current attack consists of Luis Diaz, Harry Kane and Michael Olise, who all have Premier League experience, and together they broke records this season, with the Bavarian outfit demolishing the record for most goals scored in a season.

Rashford to Bayern Could be Perfect

Rashford has made it clear that he wants to play for Barcelona next season and continue the good time he has had at the Camp Nou. But while Man Utd are not standing in his way, they are also refusing to be walked all over in negotiations, and Barcelona seem willing to walk away as a result.

Should that happen, Rashford will be forced to look at alternative options, and there aren't many that will be as good as Bayern Munich.

He knows Kane, he would thrive in the open spaces that defences leave in the Bundesliga, and he would be playing at the very highest level, winning league titles and competing for the Champions League. It's exactly what he would want, and it could be the perfect solution for all involved.
