GdS: Glasner or Jaissle – Milan schedule meeting as Rangnick wants one of his pupils

**Ralf Rangnick could bring one of two heirs, namely Oliver Glasner and Matthias Jaissle, with him to AC Milan if he accepts the offer.**

As Gazzetta dello Sport begins this morning (see featured image), there’s a quote from Rangnick that certainly applies in this case: “After a victory, you have the right to celebrate for a day, two at most. Then you have to go back to work as if nothing had happened.”

Glasner won the Conference League with Crystal Palace just a few days ago, and Milan gave him about 24 hours of peace before calling him. As a result, the parties have scheduled a meeting, most likely taking place at the start of next week.

The meeting confirms three important truths. The first: Glasner, after winning the Europa League, the FA Cup, and the Conference League with Eintracht Frankfurt and Crystal Palace, is ready for stronger teams.

The second: Gerry Cardinale and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are trying to reorganise the club quickly. On Monday, [**they sacked Giorgio Furlani**](https://sempremilan.com/redbird-announce-allegri-furlani-tare-moncada-sacked), Igli Tare, Geoffrey Moncada, and Max Allegri. Five days later, they have already made contact for the head coach role and also the management in general.

Finally, the new path of Milan could be with an Austrian taste. Rangnick, born in Germany but currently the head coach of Austria, is the favourite for the sporting area. Glasner, meanwhile, is Austrian and the same can be said for the other target Matthias Jaissle.

From Red Bull to Milan?

-----------------------

In this story, in case you hadn’t already figured it out, there’s a bull to follow. Rangnick was the mastermind behind the Red Bull project, which united Leipzig and Salzburg in the name of intense football, international scouting, and transfers between them.

The Red Bull project also connects the people in this story. Glasner joined Salzburg in a managerial role, having a degree in business administration, but Rangnick convinced him to become an assistant coacy and the rest is history. This was in 2012.

Jaissle, on the other hand, was one of Rangnick’s players at Hoffenheim and in 2015, he began coaching Salzburg’s youth teams. Step by step, he then went on to win two consecutive Asian Champions Leagues with Al-Ahli.

Each of them followed their own path, but Rangnick’s lessons live on in both. For this reason, there’s a chance Milan will speak German starting in June. If Rangnick becomes the club’s decision-maker, then he could invite one of his two heirs to coach.

Most importantly, the Rossoneri appear to be convinced by this solution. And Glasner, thanks to the Conference League victory against Rayo Vallecano, has strengthened his candidacy. At next week’s meeting, Milan will also understand a lot about whether to proceed with him or not.

Spanish sporting director

-------------------------

For the sporting director role, there are some foreign candidates too, but this time in Spain. Not one, but several interviews have taken place with Manu Fajardo, sporting director of Real Betis, who took over that role in 2024.

He is a young director, born in 1985 (same age as Luka Modric) with a professional life dedicated to scouting young talent. Another Spanish option leads to his colleague Jorge Rodriguez of Villarreal, 46, who has a long career as a sporting director in the lower leagues.

Milan’s new structure, as such, will be composed of directors for each area who will then report directly to Rangnick. That is, of course, if the German decides to accept the offer from the Rossoneri to lead the new project.
