In huge news emerging out of the Premier League, Liverpool have decided to part ways with Arne Slot. The Dutchman arrived to take over from Jurgen Klopp in 2024 and enjoyed a successful debut season in England, but things took a turn for the worse in 2025/26.
Having won the Premier League in his first campaign at Anfield, it looked as though the Reds were set for a strong period with the Dutchman at the helm. However, the club failed to build upon that and finished fifth this season without winning any trophies.
After that disappointment, Liverpool have now decided to sack Slot. According to Fabrizio Romano, Andoni Iraola is the clear favourite to take over. The Spaniard is now a free agent after he decided to part ways with Bournemouth.
Liverpool Statement as Slot Sacked
In a short and sweet statement on their official X account, Liverpool confirmed the news. The English club wrote:
"Liverpool FC can confirm Arne Slot is to depart his role as head coach with immediate effect and that the process to appoint a successor is under way. He leaves with a Premier League title to his name and our deepest gratitude and appreciation."
