Anthony Gordon wowed the Barcelona public by speaking fluent Spanish following his Newcastle United exit.
Anthony Gordon praised the St James’ Park atmosphere as the captivated Barcelona public welcomed him to the Camp Nou.
In a message while speaking fluent Spanish, the England international highlighted how frenkie de Jong and Pedri outplayed Newcastle United last September. Gordon also expressed his excitement to play alongside Barca superstar Lamine Yamal.
The 25-year-old bid an emotional farewell to the Magpies yesterday, with his unveiling delayed by several hours. This gave Gordon extra time to brush up on his Spanish skills as he addressed his new fans for the first time.

Gordon played three times against Barca in the 2025-26 season. He scored a late consolation in Newcastle’s 2-1 home defeat at the start of the campaign.
Reflecting on the loss, there was plenty of praise for Yamal, De Jong and Pedri. Gordon said: "I'm really excited to play with Lamine and the rest of the players. They're top players, the best in the world.
“I saw it when we played against them. Playing at St James' Park is tough because of the intense atmosphere, but Frenkie and Pedri outplayed us, they didn't let us touch the ball."

Everyone was surprised when Gordon burst into coherent Spanish and not his native Scouse tongue. The former Toon star told the Catalan media that he is up for the Barcelona challenge - and wants to win the Champions League..
"It's a challenge and I'm very aware of the history of this club and the great players who have worn this shirt,” Gordon said. “I'm excited. It's a dream come true to be part of Barca. I've only won one trophy with Newcastle. If I had to choose just one to win here, it would be the Champions League, but I want to win everything.
“It would be very special to win it with this club. I see the passion in the city. It would be incredible, and if it happened in the first season, it would be amazing."
