Bruno Guimaraes posts motivational injury video after two-month Newcastle United setback

Bruno Guimaraes returned from a lengthy absence to play the final six games of Newcastle United's season.

Bruno Guimaraes has declared he is “ready and motivated" ahead of the World Cup after recovering from a two-month absence.

The midfielder hobbled off in the closing stages of Newcastle United’s 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in February. With Guimaraes sidelined, the Magpies struggled, crashing out of the Champions League, losing to Sunderland and ending all hopes of European qualification.

Guimaraes completed the first leg of his recovery in Brazil before returning to Tyneside in March. He came back for the final six games of the season but, by that point, Newcastle were simply playing for pride.

Conditioning coach shares Bruno Guimaraes journey

Guimaraes is not fit and firing as he aims to win the World Cup with Brazil. The five-time champions have not lifted the trophy since 2002.

His personal conditioning coach, Felipe Neves, has posted a heart-warming video detailing Guimaraes’ recovery. The caption also read: “97 days. But this story began long before that. For three years, I've closely followed a routine of work, discipline, and dedication at a level that few people can see.

“During this period, there were great achievements, seasons at the highest level, and the recognition of being the player who covered the greatest distance in the entire Premier League in two consecutive seasons. And precisely because I know this entire journey, experiencing these 97 days of recovery had an even greater impact.

“Each session, each evolution, and each detail of the process had a clear objective: to come back strong. Seeing all of this culminate in a call-up for the World Cup is incredibly special. Very proud to be a part of this journey, brother.”

Responding to his conditioning coach, Guimaraes added: “Let's go brother! We did all we could and were rewarded. We are still together!”
