Arsenal have lost the Champions League final on penalties. Kai Havertz put Arsenal ahead but Ousmane Dembélé equalised with a penalty in the second half. There was nothing to separate the teams in 120 minutes, but Arsenal missed two penalties, as PSG retained the trophy.

With Jurrien Timber not fit enough to start, Cristhian Mosquera started at right back, with Pierro Hincapie starting at left back. Kai Havertz started upfront, with Leandro Trossard playing on the left, and Martin Ødegaard captained the team and started in midfield. Eberechi Eze, Viktor Gyökeres and Riccardo Calafiori were all on the bench, which also included Timber and Mikel Merino.

Arsenal opened the scoring on 6 minutes. Rice played an up and under and Havertz’s first touch was outstanding. He laid the ball off to Hincapie, who played down the line for Trossard. The ball was overhit but the clearance hit Trossard, rebounded, and set Havertz through. He drove down the left, and had Saka for company, but kept going and from a narrow angle struck a powerful shot that beat Safonov at his near post and went into the roof of the net. On 11 minutes, a loose ball nearly came to Kvaratskhelia inside the box but Gabriel wrapped his left foot around the ball and cleared it out for a corner, from which PSG overhit the cross.

Ruiz’s run behind Mosquera was found by Doué, but there was no PSG player in reach of his cross which went across goal and wide.

Saka cleared a corner, with his attempted clearance first striking his hand, but there was no intervention from VAR. Mosquera then won the ball high up, and Ødegaard tried to play Trossard in but overhit his scooped pass.

Saliba miscued a long ball and Dembele looked for Kvaratskhelia. He tried a trick as he went one on one with Mosquera, but Mosquera won his duel and then won a throw before the referee blew for a hydration break.

Saka played a superb low cross, and Trossard was inches away from getting onto it but Safonov got a touch to palm it away, getting injured in the process.

A PSG combination on the edge of the box set Doué into the box, but Gabriel’s tackle blocked him and Arsenal cleared.

On 35 minutes, Hakimi played a dangerous cross but Saliba anticipated well and got in front of Kvaratskhelia and cleared.

A minute later, Rice won the ball, and Mosquera played Saka down on the right, who got barged over by Mendes by the touchline to win a free kick. Rice took the free kick, and Gabriel flicked a header but the referee blew for a free kick.

From the goal kick, Hincapié stepped forward to win the ball but lost it to Doué. PSG countered through the middle, with Vitinha playing wide to Dembele. He came inside, and saw his shot blocked by Gabriel.

On 43 minutes, PSG had their first real opening. Nuno Mendes got behind Mosquera and drove to the byline. His cross was cutout by Hincapié, but the ball came to Fabian Ruiz, who headed wide of goal.

Six minutes were added on to the end of the first half.

Hincapié’s superb tackle stopped Neves, and then Doué shot well over from range, to the delight of the Arsenal fans behind the goal.

All of a sudden, Arsenal had an opportunity. Receiving Mosquera’s pass, Ødegaard, the edge of the box, played Havertz in. He cut in, had a heavy touch, and allowed Marquinhos to come across and block his shot.

From a PSG corner, Vitinha reset the play and wide to Ruiz. He fired the ball into the box, straight at Raya, who gathered at the second attempt.

Arsenal won a throw in the final minute of the half. Rice took a long throw, and from the long throw, Arsenal won a corner. Arsenal took too long to take the corner, though, and the referee blew for half time.

Saka was booked on 54 minutes after he lunged in with a straight leg while winning the ball off Doué, a decision that frankly would never be given in the Premier League.

The free kick was central but about 30 yards from goal. Hakimi took it, and the shot skipped into Raya’s arms.

PSG were increasing the pressure, aided by the referee giving every 50-50 in favour of the French side, and they won a penalty on 62 minutes. Kvaratskhelia, playing a one-two with Dembele, got behind Mosquera, and Mosquera tripped him up while also making contact with the ball. Contact was made with Kvaratskhelia first, though, and the decision stood. Dembele sent Raya the wrong way, and slotted into the corner. [1-1](https://streamin.link/v/6a9c4c98).

On 66 minutes, Gyökeres and Timber replaced Ødegaard and Mosquera.

Raya’s low kick out was intercepted, and Dembele went one v one against Gabriel. He was forced wide, and shot well wide of Raya’s goal.

Vitinha went closer a minute later, as shot from range landed on the top of Raya’s goal.

Havertz, getting onto a long goal kick, won the ball off Pacho and had a chance to slip in Saka but he overhit his pass and Safonov rushed out of goal to claim the ball.

Arsenal had a spell of pressure from a free kick, but Saka couldn’t get a shot away. PSG then broke as Saliba stepped to try to win the ball high in front of Kvaratskhelia. He drove on and on, and shot, with Lewis-Skelly getting a vital touch as Kvaratskhelia’s shot hit the upright.

On 83 minutes Arsenal made another two changes as Martinelli replaced Trossard and Noni Madueke replaced Saka. PSG made a change with Barcola replacing Kvaratskhelia.

On 85 minutes, Rice’s long throw caused danger but PSG cleared. PSG countered, and Barcola charged past Saliba. Raya came out and grabbed the ball at the edge of box at the feet of Barcola.

From a PSG corner, Martinelli had a chance from a miscue, but forced wide his pass missed the run of Madueke and Gyökeres and went between them.

On 89 minutes, Doué, getting a long ball, drove inside and laid the ball off to Vitinha at the edge of the area, but his shot curled just over the bar onto the roof of the net.

Six minutes were added to the end of the second half.

Ramos replaced Dembele in the 6th minute of added time.

Arsenal had a free kick in their own half and Raya went long. Martinelli played a dangerous ball and PSG cleared. Barcola drove down the field, and from a narrow angle shot into the side netting. That was the final action of the second half.

Arsenal’s final two changes were made at the break. Zubimendi and Eze replaced Lewis-Skelly and Havertz.

Arsenal won a corner on 92 minutes, as Eze played Madueke in behind and his cross was blocked out. Madueke’s delivery went to the near post and it was cleared behind for another corner. Madueke’s second delivery went into the side netting.

Gyökeres lost the ball in the middle, ran back to try to win the ball but bundled Ramos over and was booked.

Madueke got away from Mendes on the right and drove to the box. He was hauled down but the referee inexplicably played on despite it looking an obvious penalty, even if Madueke did have an arm backing into Mendes.

Rice and Arteta were booked for dissent.

In the 107th minute, Barcola won a header from a long ball and sent it into the box. Raya came out ahead of Ramos and got a palm on to the ball, clawing it away.

Madueke won a free kick on the right after Doué clipped him. Rice’s delivery, though, was too close to Safonov, who punched it away.

Hincapié slipped on 117 minutes, with Neves getting to the byline. His cross was headed away by Gabriel but the ball came to Doué, and his shot took a nick and was looping towards goal but Raya claimed it.

Timber and Madueke combined on the right in the 119th minute, with Timber driving down the side of the box. He shot from a very wide angle looking to catch Safonov out but his cross went into the side netting.

On 120 minutes, Madueke crossed. The ball came to Gyökeres on the edge of the box. He shaped, shot, and his shot was deflected behind for a corner as a minute was added on.

Madueke took the corner, but it was short. There was a scramble, but PSG cleared, and full time was blown. The match would be decided on penalties.

PSG won the toss to go first and to take the penalties in front of their fans. Ramos went first, and fired it into the top right corner as Raya went the wrong way. 1-0.

Gyökeres stepped up for Arsenal. He slotted it into the bottom right as Safonov went the wrong way. 1-1.

Doué went second for PSG. He sent Raya the wrong way. 2-1.

Eze went second for Arsenal. His stuttered and put his penalty wide of the left post. 2-1.

Mendes, the third penalty taker for PSG, went right at a middle height, and Raya saved it! 2-1.

Rice went third for Arsenal. He powered his penalty in as Safonov didn’t move. 2-2.

Hakimi was fourth for PSG. He sent Raya the wrong way. 3-2.

Martinelli went next for Arsenal. He dispatched his penalty into the top left corner. 3-3.

Lucas Beraldo scored his penalty as Raya cheated over to the left. 4-3.

Gabriel stepped up for Arsenal, having to score. He blazed his penalty over, and PSG won.
