The latest Premier League transfer news as Aston Villa, Man United and Chelsea eye summer moves
The 2026 summer transfer is just around the corner, and clubs are already scrambling to get deals done following the close of the domestic season. The biggest deal done so far has been Anthony Gordon’s £70m move from Newcastle United to Barcelona, which came following weeks of speculation suggesting he’d be joining Harry Kane at Bayern Munich.
Elsewhere, Tottenham have come racing out of the traps, and look to be close to sealing move for both Bournemouth’s Marcos Senesi and Liverpool’s Andy Robertson - both players will be signed on free transfers once their respective contracts expire. Elsewhere, it’s set to be a busy summer on the managerial front, as Liverpool and Crystal Palace hunt for new bosses.
We begin today’s round-up over in Denmark, where scouts are queueing up to cast an eye over 17-year-old wonderkid striker Mikkel Bro Hansen. That’s according to Danish outlet Tipsbladet, who claim that Manchester City, Chelsea and Newcastle United have all taken a shine to the Bodo/Glimt prospect.
The interest doesn’t stop there, with Barcelona, Juventus and Ajax all namechecked as potential suitors. Hansen has netted an impressive seven goals since joining his club in February, and has also excelled at youth international level, bagging 12 goals in 14 matches for Denmark’s U17 side. There is no mention of whether his club are willing to sell, or indeed how much they would demand in terms of a transfer fee.
The 3AM Verdict: If a Premier League club were to sign Hansen, or indeed the European sides mentioned, he wouldn’t be a player who would go straight into the senior squad. He’s clearly a talented youngster with bags of potential, but we can’t see him coming to England’s top tier and making an impact straight away. One to buy and loan out, perhaps.
Aston Villa close in on new goalkeeper
Over to the West Midlands, where Aston Villa are set for a busy summer after an excellent end to the 2025/26 campaign saw them win the Europa League and also bag Champions League football for next season. They’re likely to strengthen their squad significantly over the coming weeks, and are said to be on the lookout for a new goalkeeper.
Current number one Emi Martinez looks likely to move on, having failed to do so last January, and Team Talk claim Borussia Monchengladbach stopper Moritz Nicolas is their top target to replace him. They say that Villa have “opened talks” with the Bundesliga club over a potential move, and that he could be available for just £13m due to a release clause in his contract.
The 3AM Verdict: Nicolas is highly rated, but perhaps not to the extent he’d be ready to fill the Martinez void. Should the Argentine decide to stay, however, the Bundesliga ‘keeper would be an excellent deputy. Nicolas stands at nearly two metres tall, and would be an imposing figure capable of dominating his six-yard box at set-pieces.
Man United eye Borussia Dortmund gem
We’ll wrap things up with another story concerning Premier League interest in a player from the Bundesliga. German outlet BILD, via Sport Witness, claim that Manchester United are keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund defender Waldermar Anton, who looks set to move up his club’s captaincy hierarchy following the exit of Julian Brandt.
Anton, a 29-year-old centre-back, will be part of Germany’s World Cup squad, and the report states that United’s interest in Anton is nothing new, with the Red Devils previously making contact to sound out his club earlier this year. Aston Villa and Atletico Madrid are also named as sides who could make a move for the ex-VfB Stuttgart star this summer.
