Barcelona plan to pay just over £11.3 million to sign Manchester United star Marcus Rashford on a permanent deal this summer, according to The Daily Mail.
Rashford signed for the Spanish champions on a season-long loan last summer. As part of the deal, the Blaugrana agreed a future buy clause of around £22.5m.
The Englishman had a good season with 14 goals and 14 assists, but they are still looking for a big discount from the Red Devils for his permanent transfer.
The Daily Mail claim that the Blaugrana are only prepared to pay just over 50 percent of the clause (£11.3m) to sign the 28-year-old on a long-term basis.
Barcelona are hopeful that United’s urge to remove Rashford’s hefty salary from their wage bill (£325,000 per week) could contribute to a knockdown transfer.
If the Blaugrana miss out on his signature, it is reported that Aston Villa could re-emerge as an option, though Rashford may have to accept a huge pay cut.
United must not provide an extra discount to Barcelona
Rashford had a superb 2025/26 season with Barcelona, with 28 goal contributions from just 2,600 minutes.
He played a notable part in the La Liga triumph, but the Blaugrana are still reluctant to spend £22.5m on his services.
The main reason could be his weekly wages. They have just signed Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon for around £70m.
The former Magpies man will reportedly earn around £200,000 per week at the Catalan giants.
Rashford, described as ‘world-class‘ by FCBarcelona.com, may want them to meet his current salary (£325,000 per week), which is probably why Barcelona want a further discount.
In our view, the Red Devils should not entertain a cut-price deal for Rashford as they could receive better offers elsewhere.
Villa are back in the Champions League, and could be prepared to spend a much higher figure to prise Rashford away.
In the current market, Rashford is easily a £40m player, and United could receive such an amount from Unai Emery’s side.
Villa contributed £225,000 per week when Rashford was on loan with them during the back end of the 2024/25 campaign.
Rashford could be reluctant to accept a 30 percent pay cut to join them permanently, and it may require a payoff from United.
The Red Devils should still consider this option over handing him to Barcelona for just £11.3m in the next transfer window.
The other choice would be to keep him to compete with Matheus Cunha on the left wing, but he has no desire to stay put.
