Nottingham Forest defender David Carmo could be on the move again this summer amid a fair bit of interest in his signature.

The 26-year-old is yet to make a competitive appearance for the Reds. He joined from Porto in August 2024 and has since had loan stints at Olympiacos and then Real Oviedo.

A return to the former is said to be a possibility once the transfer window opens but Carmo also has other options. Given Forest are being credited with interest in central defenders, it appears unlikely he will get an opportunity at the City Ground.

Fellow Evangelos Marinakis-owned club Olympiacos are “discussing” bringing Carmo back to Greece, according to Gazzetta. The centre-back himself is said to be keen to return to the club, where he has had two previous loan stints.

Carmo was part of the Olympiacos team to win the UEFA Conference League in May 2024 during his first spell at the club, when he was on loan from Porto. He returned to the Greek giants the following season, this time on loan from Forest, but couldn’t quite make the same impact.

Nevertheless, it seems he remains well regarded in Piraeus and could be a replacement for ex-Red Giulian Biancone as the Frenchman is likely to depart. Carmo is also said to have admirers in La Liga.

Murillo and Nikola Milenkovic have established themselves as first-choice central defensive pairing for Forest. The former has attracted interest from elsewhere but recently signed fresh terms to keep him at the club until 2030.

Jair Cunha arrived at the City Ground last summer and has shown promise during his first year Trentside. Likewise, academy graduate Zach Abbott gave a good account of himself during the season just gone.

Morato played his part, especially during the run-in when Murillo was sidelined, but there is a question mark against his future. The Reds reportedly rejected an offer for him during the winter window but it could be he moves on this summer.

One centre-back almost certain to depart is Willy Boly as he is out of contract. Meanwhile, a decision will need to be made on Tyler Bindon following his return from being on loan at Sheffield United.
