Four Newcastle United players are entering the final year of their current contracts this summer.
Newcastle United have already confirmed a number of major contract decisions ahead of the summer transfer window.
Long-serving defender Fabian Schar will hold further talks over a new deal as his current contract comes to an end next month - but full-back duo Kieran Trippier and Emil Krafth and academy graduate Max Thompson will all depart after their release was confirmed earlier this month. News is also awaited on the future of several academy stars as the Magpies prepare to confirm who will be offered professional deals and which prospects will now take the next step in their career away from St James Park.
However, there are a number of other major calls for the Magpies hierarchy as four members of Eddie Howe’s first-team squad will enter the final 12 months of their current contracts this summer and that will put them at risk of being lost on cut-price deals during the summer transfer window. So would you allow them to depart or would you offer them a chance to extend their time in black and white?

Like many of his United team-mates, the England goalkeeper has endured a disappointing season and has looked far from convincing throughout the campaign. Although he edged the battle to become Howe’s first-choice stopper and largely saw off the challenge of Aaron Ramsdale, there are still suggestions Pope will face new competition for a place in the starting eleven next season. However, with just 12 month remaining on his current contract, there is speculation the former Burnley goalkeeper could leave St James Park this summer.

A Rafa Benitez signing, Murphy took his time to get going with Newcastle but enjoyed the best season of his career during the 2024/25 campaign as he scored nine goals and provided 14 assists in all competitions. However, he struggled to replicate that form during this season with nine goal contributions in 46 appearances. With just 12 months remaining on his current contract, Newcastle could look to cash in on Murphy during the summer transfer window - although Howe is likely to try and retain the services of one of his favourite players.
Dan Burn

Burn is World Cup-bound this summer after he was named in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad alongside Magpies team-mates Lewis Hall and Anthony Gordon. The Blyth-born defender has been a consistent presence in United sides throughout a hectic season and still retains Howe’s trust. It would be a surprise if Burn was to depart during the summer transfer window and it seems more likely he will see out his career with the club he grew up supporting.

Willock’s future has been the subject of ongoing speculation for a number of months with Crystal Palace and Fulham both suggested as possible suitors for the Magpies midfielder. There was talk the former Arsenal man could depart during the January transfer window - but he remained on Tyneside and a summer departure seems more likely as he enters the final year of his current deal.
