Former Nottingham Forest head coach Sean Dyche could be a contender for the Crystal Palace job.

The 54-year-old was sacked by the Reds in February after 114 days in charge. He has been out of management work since but has been linked with a return to the Premier League for the new season.

Palace are on the lookout for a replacement for Oliver Glasner, who will leave Selhurst Park at the end of his contract. According to talkSPORT, Dyche is among the names to have “been discussed” as options for the post.

Coventry City’s Frank Lampard, Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna and ex-Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank are also potential candidates. But they could all lose out to Lens boss Pierre Sage, who the Eagles are “exploring a move for” after their hopes of landing Andoni Iraola suffered a blow amid talk of him now going to Liverpool.

Dyche’s appointment Trentside came after he had been dismissed by Everton in January 2025. He has not ruled out a return to management but has made clear he is enjoying doing different things at present.

“We’ll see,” he told the Press Association. “You never know. I wasn’t desperately looking when Forest came along.

“It changes and if I get a phone call I’ll have a decision to make, but at the minute there hasn’t been a decision to make. It’s been pretty easy going and I’ve enjoyed looking down different avenues.”

Dyche has previously stated he received “top level” offers after being axed by the Reds. He also said he did not understand why he had been dismissed by Forest.

“Well, I don’t, statistically and factually, no emotion to it, if you look at the stats and facts - even after the last game, against Wolves. Our current form at that time was ninth in the Premier League,” he told The Football Boardroom podcast.

“The stats and facts were there, clear as day. From my record, from when we got there to when we ended, we’d have been 12th in the Premier League.

“So on factual data and analysis, I can’t understand any of the decisions that were made. But football is changing, and we witnessed it.”

Dyche was Forest’s third manager of the season, following Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou in the role. The ex-Burnley boss was replaced by Vitor Pereira, who steered the Reds to safety and to the semi-finals of the Europa League.
