Davide Frattesi will finally leave Inter Milan in the summer and Nottingham Forest have work to do for a deal.
The East Midlands club made some progress in a move during the January transfer window. Details of the move were being sorted out but Inter Milan then failed to sign Liverpool’s Curtis Jones as a replacement. SportWitness covered the deal extensively, as the player initially seemed keen on the transfer.
Unfortunately, Frattesi stayed at the Italian side, who won the Serie A two weeks ago. The midfielder only played a minor role though, starting only twice in the second half of the campaign.
He is on the fringes of Cristian Chivu’s project now and has no option but to seek an exit in the summer. Talk around the midfielder is now slowly growing once again.
Favourite destination emerging
L’Interista report that the Italy international is looking for a new club already.
As things stand, AS Roma are leading the race for him. Gian Piero Gasperini has identified a specific role for him in midfield that brings most out of the Inter player. The Giallorossi plan to accelerate their move soon, with Frattesi having come through their youth setup in the past.
Nottingham Forest are still in the picture too. They can soon make new contact for his signature, having monitored Frattesi since the failed January approach.
In the meantime, Inter are awaiting developments, keen on selling to the highest bidder.
Less than €30m needed
Corriere dello Sport also have a report about the 26-year-old, who is also of interest to Atalanta. La Dea will lose Edeson to Manchester United and they will have a spot free for Frattesi.
The newspaper also indicate how the midfielder was quite keen on moving to Nottingham Forest. This was right after Lazio made two attempts for him before the English club came forward.
Interest in him is likely to remain high. But Inter know they will struggle to get €30m from his exit. They are desperate for incomings like Marco Palestra and Curtis Jones and Frattes’s exit will be very important for them.
Forest need to hurry
It feels like Frattesi could be in high demand during the next transfer window. That is pretty much what Inter would want in their attempt to earn as much as possible.
At the same time, it should also rush Nottingham Forest into negotiations. Italian clubs usually do not offer permanent deals and ideally, the Nerazzuri want exactly that. Vitor Pereira’s side can take advantage of that and offer Inter the sort of fee that Atalanta or Lazio can’t afford.
The only challenge could be the player himself. He has played quite a bit in the Champions League now and would want to keep playing in Europe. This isn’t something Nottingham Forest can offer, which can dash their hopes of convincing him.
