Newcastle United have been reported as a suitor for Udinese’s Arthur Atta and the deal seems to be advancing.
Earlier this month, SportWitness covered how intermediaries have been trying to get a move for the midfielder. They had spoken to Udinese about a possible exit, especially with Atta attracting interest from multiple clubs.
That is when Newcastle United first emerged as a candidate, with Udinese appearing very likely to execute a summer sale.
His stature rose during the last cmapaign after he contributed in ten goals in all competitions. While Italian clubs have also been keen on him for months now, England is now becoming a much more likelier destination for Atta.
Magpies progressing with deal
Il Mattino look at the 23-year-old and they speak mainly of English interest. This is causing a bit of a panic at Napoli, who are also interested in Atta, especially as Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa can end his stint with the Serie A side this summer. i
The newspaper clarify Newcastle United’s contact with Udinese ‘in the last few hours’, with Brighton also in the race right now.
The Friulian club are asking for a €40m fee but Magpies aren’t opposed to paying that. Their financial capacity is hyped to suggest that the price appears affordable to Eddie Howe’s side.
This feels like a development in recent days and Newcastle United could well be advancing in their move.
Udinese likely pushing for exit
The Italian media is convinced that Atta has played his last season at Udinese. And since intermediaries are already at work, there is no surprise a host of clubs are being linked with him.
This grants Newcastle United a chance to seal a deal quickly. Udinese’s record sale stands at €35m, which is what Atletico Madrid paid for Rodrigo De Paul some years ago. The Argentine had been a consistent player for many seasons, which hasn’t quite been been the case for Atta.
That is why there could yet be a chance of a discount for Eddie Howe’s side. Udinese would clearly want a sale to England to maximise their profits but there is every chance they settle for less than €40m in the summer. Involvement of intermediaries will definitely help.
