Leeds United U21 left-back Jayden Lienou has been called up to the senior Wales squad this weekend after his impressive progression at Thorp Arch.
With the club season now coming to an end, there’s still international involvement for plenty of Leeds’ squad as the World Cup looms.
Of course, there’s heavy involvement in the Wales squad as per usual. But, there’s a new face in Craig Bellamy’s senior setup.
Leeds United left-back Jayden Lienou called into Wales senior squad
Injuries in the back end of the campaign for Leeds saw a handful of U21 talents drafted into Daniel Farke’s setup, including left-back Jayden Lienou.
Highly rated by U21s boss Scott Gardner, he’s also clearly catching the eye on the international stage as well. Craig Bellamy is preparing his Wales squad for friendlies against Ghana and Romania, with Lienou brought into the senior group.

Despite only just turning 18, it looks as though Bellamy is eager to integrate the teenager into his setup as soon as possible.
It’s not the first time a Leeds teen has been brought up to Wales’ first team before their senior club debut for the Whites. Charlie Crew collected his first Wales cap before later making his Leeds debut in the 24/25 campaign.
Jaydne Lienou one to watch in 26/26 – Leeds United debut or exciting loan opportunity looms
The lack of left-back depth in our squad could work in Lienou’s favour next season. There’s a chance that he impresses enough in pre-season to work his way into our squad permanently.
Personally, I’m expecting that Leeds find a well-suited loan in the EFL. It would help get him used to senior football as soon as possible.
That being said, the fact he’s already being fast-tracked by Bellamy is great news. It shows that it’s not just Leeds that like what they see from him.
