Jack Whitehall flew back to the UK for Soccer Aid hours after Arsenal's clash against Paris Saint-Germain. The comedian revealed that he'd been up "crying and drinking" on his own til the early hours after watching his team lose to the French team on penalties.

This year marked Whitehall's return to Soccer Aid after a decade away, but the presenter joked that he was heading onto the pitch on "no sleep" after the Gunners' defeat. Speaking to host Dermot O'Leary, Jack, 37, said: "Not great, I've just flown back from Budapest, I was up until 3am, on my own in the hotel room rewatching the penalty shoot, crying, drinking.

"But it's fine I'm here surrounded by United fans, Tottenham fans, I feel great!" As Dermot jokingly comforted Jack, he pretended to cry over Arsenal's loss on Saturday.

Jack headed out to Budapest with his brother and pals as the group drowned their sorrows following the tense clash. Just days after winning the Premier League and securing their first title in over two decades, the North London team went up against Saint-Germain for the title.

However, PSG eventually won it after a 1-1 draw. But while neither team managed to win the game even after the additional 30 minutes, the match went to a shootout as they both battled to retain the trophy. Eventually, it was PSG who took it home.

Eberechi Eze and Gabriel failed to convert for the Gunners, who have to make do with the Premier League crown. In the meantime, PSG celebrate back-to-back European crowns, having also seen off Inter Milan 12 months ago.

Following the match, Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard said on TNT Sports: "Everyone is really disappointed. When you are that close to winning, it is really tough to take. At the same time, we know what we have done this season. And we've achieved something incredible, and we were so close to doing even better today.

"So we have to see the bigger picture and remember all the good stuff as well. I felt like we controlled the game after getting the first goal. They had the ball a lot, but they didn't create too many chances. In the end, penalties is a tough way to lose."
