Leeds United could stand to benefit from one transfer that might materialise following West Ham's relegation. However, Daniel Farke's side may only see the upside if Crysencio Summerville is sold for significantly more than the £28million West Ham paid Leeds for his services in 2024.
Summerville, 24, was part of the Hammers squad that saw their drop down to the Championship confirmed despite a 3-0 win over Leeds on the final day of the season. The Dutchman's Premier League tenure is over for the time being but there's plenty of reason to believe he'll move on again this summer.
The Athletic recently reported West Ham need to raise around £150million in capital through player sales this summer. The east Londoners will want to retain as much talent as possible in pursuit of promotion back to England's top flight at the first time of asking, but Summerville is among those valuable assets who may be cut loose in order to stay afloat.

It's not known for certain as to whether a sell-on clause was included in his contract. And even if he does, any windfall Leeds receive is likely to be calculated purely on any profit West Ham make from his signature.
A comparable example is that of former Leeds defender Charlie Cresswell, who also left Elland Road in the summer of 2024 to join Toulouse. In Cresswell's case, there is a definite sell-on stipulation entitling the Whites to 15 per cent of any profit Toulouse make from his sale.
The scope for Leeds to benefit is much greater in his case considering the club sold him for just £3.8million, and he's now believed to be worth closer to £15m. Sky Sports recently reported Brighton and Crystal Palace are among the Premier League teams interested in bringing him back to England.

Due to Summerville's much more extravagant sale figure, it will be a lot harder for West Ham to make a profit on his sale. But Italian outlet Gazetta dello Sport claim they will still demand £35m for him - which could theoretically land Leeds a seven-figure sum if they did mirror Cresswell's clause.
West Ham's No. 7 was among the club's more reliable performers this season despite their relegation. Only Jarrod Bowen (nine goals, 11 assists) racked up more Premier League goal involvements than Summerville (five goals, four assists) over the course of the campaign.
It was reported earlier this year that the likes of Tottenham, Everton and Aston Villa were all keeping tabs on him. Spurs were rumoured to be considering a move for the player during the January transfer window and may return now their top-flight status is secure.

Outside England, both Napoli and Marseille have also been touted as potential destinations for the player. And it would be a surprise if Summerville wasn't interested in at least one of those suitors after West Ham's drop to the Championship was confirmed.
From a Leeds perspective, a bidding war for the attacker would represent the best-case scenario as his signature comes up for auction. However, there's yet to be any concrete move of an offer just yet.
Farke will need as many funds as he can muster to make his own improvements after keeping Leeds' heads above water this term. And Summerville could possibly hand his old side a fortunate financial boost.
