Leeds United are focused on the summer transfer window as they look to build on the momentum of finishing 14th in their first season back in the Premier League.

Daniel Farke wants to see more ambition from the Leeds board in the summer. However, chairman Paraag Marathe has indicated that the club won’t blow up their budget to improve the squad.

However, the manager and the recruitment team are aligned about the need to bring in upgrades for several areas of the squad to ensure Leeds do not stand still.

The club are keen to add more creativity and goals to their squad, and Leeds have been linked with a sensational move to re-sign Crysencio Summerville this summer.

Fee revealed for Crysencio Summerville

Daniel Farke embraced Crysencio Summerville on the final day of the season as West Ham’s relegation was confirmed despite their win over Leeds.

The Dutch winger will leave West Ham this summer as the Hammers need to raise funds following relegation, and Summerville has been earmarked as one of the players who could bring in a decent fee.

Leeds are considering the prospect of re-signing a player who left the club to join West Ham in 2024 following their failure to earn promotion.

West Ham paid a fee of £25m to sign the Dutchman from Leeds and want a profit from the sale of the player this summer.

Serie A giants Roma are interested in the winger as well, according to ASRomaLive.it, West Ham want somewhere around £30m to £35m before agreeing to sell him.

It has been claimed that his Premier League suitors have an edge ahead of Roma in the race due to West Ham’s financial expectations from any deal.

Leeds admire Summerville, but it remains to be seen whether they would be prepared to fork out such a fee for the Dutchman in the summer.

Signing Summerville would be a gamble

A chance of system midway through last season revived Leeds’ season, but it also limited the need for wingers in Daniel Farke’s team.

Signing Crysencio Summerville would either require Leeds to revert to their previous system or find a way to fit the Dutchman into their current setup, where there is no obvious natural role for him.

It would be a major gamble as there is no guarantee the Dutchman would be able to adapt, and they already have Noah Okafor, who is now playing as a second striker.

And there is also no guarantee that the supporters would be ready to welcome back a player who was more than happy to move on following a heartbreaking playoff final defeat.

It would be a major punt if Leeds decided to fork out more than £30m for a player who doesn’t seem to be a natural fit at the moment.
