Chelsea don’t have a lot of easy sales to make this summer.
Their players who have done well and increased their value are naturally the ones they want to keep, while the ones they want to sell are the ones who are struggling, and aren’t like to get suitable offers.
One exception is Tyrique George, who they loaned out to Everton. The 20 year old spent last season on loan at Everton, and despite not making regular starts impressed enough off the bench that the Toffees are apparently interested in signing him.
George future still unclear as Everton decide on option
Nizaar Kinsella reported on Saturday that Everton are “weighing up” whether to activate the clause to make his loan permanent for something in the region of £22m.
Frankly we’d rather have kept George in our squad than sign Alejandro Garnacho for £40m. But that decision has been made now, and unless there’s a miracle and a buyer comes in for Garnacho, he will be staying and George will be the one going it seems.
In other news…
Robert Sanchez looks more and more likely to go into next season as Chelsea’s number one goalkeeper once again.
Angelo Stiller has been suggested as a potential replacement for Enzo Fernandez – but he may have the same problem that the Argentine does.
