Newcastle United will target a right-back this summer after losing Kieran Trippier and Emil Krafth.
Both players are leaving at the end of their contracts on June 30, with Trippier already agreeing a two-year contract at Wolverhampton Wanderers, who are eyeing an immediate return to the Premier League after their relegation last season.
Newcastle United interested in Strasbourg right-back Guela Doue
And according to French publication Jeunes Footeux, the Magpies are considering a move for RC Strasbourg defender Guela Doue.
Doue, older brother of Paris Saint-Germain star Desire, joined Strasbourg from Stade Rennais for around £5million and is regarded as one of the first names on the teamsheet.
The Ligue 1 club don’t want to sell the 23-year-old but, as per the report, are being forced to reconsider their stance due to the “economic climate”. With a significant transfer deficit for several seasons, it’s claimed that they will have to sell players this summer to balance the books.
Doue is one of the players attracting strong interest and could be allowed to leave if an offer around £25million “minimum” is received. It’s claimed the player is open to a move to the Premier League and ticks all of Newcastle’s boxes.
Doue, an Ivory Coast international, made 34 appearances in all competitions last term, scoring twice and providing seven assists.
