Mikel Arteta has already turned his attention to the summer

Following a weekend of mixed fortunes, attention will shortly shift to Arsenal's Premier League title defence. There were shattered dreams in Budapest as the Gunners endured a heartbreaking penalty shootout loss to PSG in the Champions League final.

Yet the disappointment transformed into jubilation again on Sunday as the club held its trophy parade to celebrate claiming the league for the first time in 22 years. Mikel Arteta will shortly focus on next season, aware the Gunners cannot afford to remain static.

Their competitors will be eager to narrow the divide, with Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool poised for fresh beginnings under new bosses. Arteta may bolster his squad in various positions, while several exits expected. Daily Star Sport delivers the latest Arsenal updates...

Arsenal maintain their interest in Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi and may secure the 25-year-old this summer, according to reports from Italy. Carnesecchi emerged from the Serie A club's youth system and has served as their number one since the 2023/24 campaign.

In the campaign just finished, he managed an impressive 17 clean sheets as Atalanta secured seventh place in Serie A. Atalanta, who have grown used to offloading players to the Premier League, have allegedly placed a £35m valuation on Carnesecchi, reports the Mirror.

The Gunners are believed to have approached Carnesecchi's representative, Alessandro Lucci, who also handles Riccardo Calafiori. The transfer could depend on whether he's willing to serve as understudy to David Raya.

It would also spark doubts about second-choice keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga's future, though it's been suggested they would battle for the position of primary deputy to Raya.

Martin Odegaard maintains he wishes to remain at the club for "many years" ahead. Despite the Gunners' achievements, it's been a season to forget for the Norwegian, who has endured difficulties with both form and fitness.

However, following the Champions League final, he expressed his ambition to stay and assist the club towards further triumph. He said: "There is nothing to say at the moment, I am under contract here and really happy here and hopefully I can stay many years."

Odegaard, who was substituted in the second half against PSG, confessed it was painful to observe. He added: "It is tough to watch from the sides. It's small margins and you want to win it so bad. To end up with nothing is brutal.

"Again, that's part of football and still we have done some incredible things this season. We get this close and we will come again next year Last year, we got to the semis, this year to the final and it is just a shame we couldn't win it.
