Former Wates boss to join Reds10 as executive chair

Wates’ former head of its public sector business Steve Beechey is to join offsite specialist Reds10 as executive chair next month.

Beechey left Wates at the end of last month after more than 15 years at the firm, having joined from Laing O’Rourke in 2010 where he was the director of its education sector business. He started out at Tarmac as a site engineer in his native Liverpool in the late 1980s.

Beechey, who is also a non-executive at building products firm Alumasc, was also an executive board member at Wates and will join Reds10 on 20 July.

Reds10 chief executive Paul Ruddick said: “[Beechey] brings a strong track record in construction and deep experience of the public sector, which will be invaluable as we enter our next phase of growth. His insight and leadership will help us scale our model and accelerate our mission to industrialise construction.”

Beechey added: “I’m excited to be joining Reds10 Group at such a pivotal moment in its growth. The business has built a strong reputation for innovation and has a clear ambition to transform how construction is delivered.”

In its last set of results, Reds10 said revenue was up 2% to £145m in the year to March 2025 with pre-tax profit staying flat at £7m.

The firm has five factories in East Yorkshire that combined give it manufacturing space of over 250,000sq ft.
