Nottingham Forest are said to be keeping a close eye on Rangers teenager Calum Adamson.

A breakthrough campaign on loan at Alloa Athletic has put the midfielder in the spotlight. The Reds are among a number of clubs whose interest has apparently been piqued.

The centre of the pitch will be an area of focus for Forest this summer, particularly as Elliot Anderson is a man in demand. Head coach Vitor Pereira has said if any of his squad’s key players do depart, they will need to be replaced.

At 18, Adamson does not quite fall into the direct replacement bracket for Anderson. But he is highly regarded, and the Reds have made recruiting youngsters with the potential to improve and increase in value part of their transfer strategy in recent windows.

According to TEAMtalk, Forest have been tracking Adamson and have regularly scouted him in action. Premier League rivals Crystal Palace are said to have done the same, while Championship sides Middlesbrough, Bristol City and Portsmouth are keen on him.

The youngster is heading into the final year of his contract, leaving Rangers facing “an increasingly difficult battle” to hang on to him. The Scottish giants reportedly want to secure him for the long-term and are eyeing up another loan move for him, with St Mirren and Kilmarnock identified as possible destinations.

Frattesi’s future

Another midfielder the Reds have been credited with an interest in is Inter Milan’s Davide Frattesi. A switch to the City Ground in January did not come off, but his is a name that has never really gone away.

The 26-year-old looks set to depart Inter this summer after struggling for game time. Italian publication L’Interista report Forest remain in the picture for Frattesi and a move to the Premier League is a “real possibility”.

Contact with Inter could soon be made by the Reds to “assess the feasibility” of a deal. However, they are not the only ones eyeing up the Italian.

Several teams in his homeland are said to have asked about his availability, with Roma tipped to be the “most likely option” as things stand. A decision regarding the player’s future is expected in the coming weeks

Ex-Red to return?

On the subject of midfielders, former Forest favourite Danilo could be heading back to the Premier League this summer. Twelve months after leaving the City Ground for Botafogo, the Brazilian is in demand.

Manchester United have made an offer for him, according to Brazilian publication UOL. AC Milan, Atalanta and Zenit St Petersburg are said to have done the same, while Palmeiras and Flamengo are also keen.

Botafogo are expected to hold off making any decision about the 25-year-old until after the World Cup. Danilo is in Brazil’s squad and a good tournament will likely increase his value.

The player himself is said to be keen to return to Europe, having spent two-and-a-half years Trentside. The Reds signed him from Palmeiras for a fee in the region of £16-18 million, then sold him for a reported £21m.

On the move

Another ex-Red, Joe Lolley, is on the lookout for a new club. Sydney FC have confirmed the winger is to move on after four years at the Australian club.

Hailed as one of Sydney’s “most influential overseas signings”, Lolley headed Down Under after leaving Forest in 2022. Part of the Reds’ promotion-winning team, he made 115 appearances and scored 36 goals in Sky Blue.

“It’s sad, I’ve spent the last four years of my life here and with these boys, it’s never nice leaving but I move on to my next chapter and I’m looking forward to it,” Lolley told the club’s official website. “Ideally I’d like to stay in Australia and play football, I still feel like I can really contribute and barring a few injuries I feel like I’m ready to prove myself again and I’m up for whatever challenge comes my way.”
