Real Madrid’s long-standing interest in Josko Gvardiol has received fresh attention after the Manchester City defender refused to completely dismiss the possibility of a future move away from the Premier League club.

Speaking during Croatia’s World Cup training camp, Gvardiol addressed the rumours for the first time.

Against that backdrop, Gvardiol was asked about the increasing transfer rumours linking him with other clubs, including Real Madrid.
“We’ve all seen the various rumours coming from all over the place. I’m happy at Manchester City; I have everything I need.
“Before the injury, I played every game and almost every minute. After the Club World Cup, we’ll see what happens,” he said as per SPORT.

While the comments do not indicate an imminent departure, they also stop short of shutting down the rumours completely.
Still a target from Real Madrid
Real Madrid’s admiration for Gvardiol is nothing new, as the Croatian has long been viewed as one of Europe’s most complete defenders thanks to his ability to operate both as a centre-back and a left-back.
At the same time, defensive reinforcement remains an important objective for Real Madrid as they continue planning for the future of their backline.
At 24, Gvardiol represents both an immediate solution and a long-term investment, which explains why his situation continues to be monitored closely by the club.
Right now, a move remains complicated, as Manchester City are under no pressure to sell, but his comments ensure that speculation will continue.
