Others like Joelinton have been spotted sunning it up on the beach - away from the rigours of Premier League football. However, Tonali could be forgiven for feeling stuck between a rock and a hard place given his recent international setback.
Italy heartbreak
Italy are the biggest high-profile omission from this year’s World Cup. Bosnia and Herzegovina defeated Gli Azzurri on penalties in March to claim their play-off place.
Due to their qualification failure, Italy have called up an experimental squad for the upcoming clashes with Luxembourg and Greece. Under-21s coach Silvio Baldini has been placed in temporary charge, with the squad consisting of young players desperate for their opportunity.

As a result, Tonali - the only Italian to score in the decisive penalty shoot-out against Bosnia - was never going to be included to face Luxembourg or Greece. That explains why the Toon ace attended WWE Clash in Turin.
Tonali received a warm reception as the camera panned on him during the event. This was the WWE’s first pay-per-view show in Italy as stars like Cody Rhodes, Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns wowed a 15,000-strong crowd.
With his mind not focused on the World Cup, Tonali will have extra time to ponder his Newcastle future. Speculation about a possible transfer - with Manchester United and Arsenal interested - followed the midfielder all season.
