Jayden Lienou is set for his biggest career milestone since joining Leeds United.

The defender linked up with Daniel Farke‘s side in July 2025, bringing an end to his association with Manchester City.

The Whites academy ace has now been called up for the Wales squad for their friendlies with Ghana on 2 June and Romania on 6 June.

He could make his international debut for the Dragons if manager Craig Bellamy decides to give him a chance in one of the fixtures.

Lienou’s appearance in the squad will only increase the hype around him, and MOT Leeds News examines his contract as a result.

What is Lienou’s contract situation at Leeds?

Lienou signed a three-year deal with Leeds when he moved to Thorp Arch, and he still has two years left on that.

His contract is currently set to expire in 2028, if he does not agree to extend his terms before that deadline.

Therefore, the Whites are in a strong position when it comes to his future, even with the increased attention that he will get.

What is next for Leeds talent Lienou?

Lienou is an 18-year-old left-back, and supporters will already be aware of his presence and potential.

His signature was widely regarded as a coup, and we have seen him included in two senior squads for Premier League matches.

He was in the squads for the matchday 36 and 37 clashes with Tottenham and Brighton, meaning that he has surely already impressed Farke.

Lienou should now be given pre-season to impress the boss and see if he can make the step up to the first team in the near future, quicker than expected.

If he takes that chance, Peacocks fans may see a lot more of him, and he may be handed a senior start for the first time.

If not, he may find himself back in the youth ranks, having to work harder to make his mark on the German manager.

Either way, the call-up for his national team will do little harm to his reputation, and there is no rush for Farke to throw him into the deep end, as his deal still has plenty of time to run.
