Offer made: Crystal Palace now submit quick bid for "total leader" from giant club - report

Crystal Palace have now submitted an opening bid for a "total leader", as they look to beat Premier League rivals Chelsea to his signature.

Palace eyeing new midfielder with Kamada and Wharton in line to leave

Oliver Glasner was full of praise for the roles Daichi Kamada and Adam Wharton played in Palace's 1-0 victory against Rayo Vallecano in the Europa Conference League final, saying*: “I don’t normally like to praise individuals too much, but I have to say that Adam and Daichi [Kamada] played very, very well.*

"We knew they would press with minus one in midfield to keep plus one at the back. It was about how quickly they could find the space use it. And we were amazing in that period where we had the clear chances, Yeremy had an amazing free-kick.”

However, as things stand, Kamada is set to leave this summer, with his contract set to come to an end, whereas Wharton has been attracting interest from elsewhere, and Manchester United have been named as potential suitors.

Sky Sports News' James Savundra has confirmed the Eagles want to convince both midfielders to remain at Selhurst Park, with a Europa League campaign to come next season, and Kamada wants to stay in London, which is an encouraging sign.

However, they have also set out to bring in a new option in the middle of the park.

Palace make offer for "total leader"

According to a report from Managing Barca, Crystal Palace have now submitted a €25m (£22m) offer for Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado, as they aim to beat Premier League rivals Chelsea to his signature.

Casado is viewed as the 'perfect' addition to the midfield, given his 'high footballing IQ', and an opening bid is on the table, with a quick proposal being made after formal talks were opened.

Barca are yet to respond to the offer for the 22-year-old, who played a sporadic role in their recent La Liga title triumph, making 24 appearances, but often being limited to game time as a late substitute.

981 minutes played

0 goals

1 assist

91% pass-completion rate

47 duels won

18 tackles

7 interceptions

That is despite receiving praise from former Barcelona defender Rafael Marquez, who said: "His attitude, his character and his desire to improve every day. He has a very winning and competitive mentality. That’s what has given him the opportunity.

"He never stops fighting. He is very competitive. When things go wrong, he is very positive. He is a total leader."

Palace's number one priority should be to keep hold of both Wharton and Kamada, with both midfielders already proven in the Premier League, but Casado, who has one goal and seven assists to his name in 75 appearances for Barca, could be an exciting signing.
