Arsenal could make a swift profit with the sale of Piero Hincapie this summer, according to reports.

The Gunners will now be turning their attention to the summer transfer window following the end of their season.

Mikel Arteta and Co. won the Premier League title but lost to Paris Saint-Germain in a penalty shootout in the Champions League final over the weekend.

Hincapie played a key role in helping Arsenal make the final in Budapest, having joined the Gunners from Bayer Leverkusen on a season-long loan deal.

Arsenal have the option of signing Hincapie on a permanent deal for £45million this summer, with various reports suggesting that the Gunners are expected to activate this clause.

According to the Daily Mail, though, Arsenal could look to sell the Ecuador international almost immediately after signing him on a permanent basis.

The report claims that Barcelona have expressed an interest in signing Hincapie this summer, although it’s unclear if the La Liga giants are prepared to submit an offer for the defender as things stand.

Barcelona have already made a busy start to the summer transfer window by completing the signing of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United in a deal reported to be worth £80million (£69.2million).

It has been suggested that Arsenal could look to make a profit on Hincapie straight away this summer, provided they receive a suitable offer for the 24-year-old.

However, it remains to be seen what fee Arsenal would demand for Hincapie should they decide to sell the defender this summer.

Hincapie made 39 appearances for Arsenal during his loan from Leverkusen, including 25 in the Premier League and played a key role in helping the Gunners end their 22-year wait for a league title.

Arteta was recently asked about the possibility that Arsenal could sign Hincapie on a permanent deal this summer, with the Gunners boss making the club’s intentions clear.

"I would say so,” Arteta said. "Let's go through the season.

“We have already discussed the possible outcomes that we have after that period. But so far, we are very, very happy with him."
