It was an emotional Sunday night when Kevin Keegan returned to Tyneside for a public engagement.
The Newcastle United legend in sparkling form at the Tyne Theatre as he entertained fans at the event.
It was though a bittersweet occasion, as Kevin Keegan also revealed that his diagnosis was stage four stomach cancer.
The audience devastated to hear this but KK determined to be upbeat.
Kevin Keegan also revealing that he would now like make at least one more appearance at St James’ Park next season, to go on the pitch ahead of a match.
This is something the Newcastle United fans have wanted to happen ever since the takeover saw Mike Ashley exit in October 2021.
Kevin Keegan declaring: “I want to say goodbye. I didn’t get the chance when I left the club last time.”
On hearing what he’d had to say on Sunday night at the Tyne Theatre, the club giving this official response on Monday afternoon: ‘We send our heartfelt support and warmest wishes to Kevin Keegan and his family following his recent diagnosis of stage four cancer. The club adding: ‘Kevin will always be warmly welcomed at St. James’ Park and we hope to see him again soon.’
