Exit agreed: 'World-class' Liverpool star will tell Iraola he wants to leave with Curtis Jones…

Liverpool are in the process of appointing a new manager and the upheaval at Anfield could continue with one of their key players ready to leave the club, according to reports in Italy.

The Reds announced on Saturday that Arne Slot had been relieved of his duties at the club, just 12 months on from winning the Premier League title.

Liverpool endured a torrid second campaign under Slot, finishing fifth in the table - just three points above Bournemouth. The Cherries outgoing boss Andoni Iraola is the leading candidate to takeover from Slot.

The club have already said goodbye to Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson while over the weekend Ibrahima Konate confirmed he would be leaving Liverpool after five years. All three players will depart on free transfers.

Alisson Becker to request exit after Arne Slot sacked

Alisson

With a trio of players already leaving, goalkeeper Alisson Becker is also positioning himself for an exit.

That is according to Gazzetta dello Sport in Italy, who report the Brazilian has already agreed a three-year contract in principle with Serie A side Juventus.

Alisson has been keen to join Juve but with one year left on his contract on Merseyside, Liverpool told the goalkeeper they were keen to keep him. That was a decision supported by Slot.

However, the report from Italy claims Alisson will reach out Iraola, if he is appointed, to inform him that he considers his time at Anfield to be complete. It will then be up to Iraola to convince the Brazilian to stay or to let him go.

Alisson has established himself in Liverpool folklore after playing a key role in the club's success under Jurgen Klopp and in the title win under Slot during the 2024-25 campaign.

But with only one year left on his deal at the Reds, he is already considering his future.

With a three-year deal agreed in principle at Juve, Alisson could see a move to Italy as a more secure long-term option. The agreement with the Turin outfit also includes the option for an extra year, in the club's favour.

Liverpool should fight to keep Alisson Becker

Alisson Konate Van Dijk

Alisson, who has been described as 'world-class' and one of the best goalkeepers in the world, is one of Liverpool's remaining leaders.

Salah and Robertson were both part of the club's leadership group and losing a third experienced member of the squad could prove to be detrimental.

Iraola, if appointed, will likely be keen to lean on some of the club's more experienced players as he gets to grips with his new surroundings.

If Alisson was to depart, Virgil van Dijk would be one of the last remaining leaders from the Klopp era.

Others, such as Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch, would need to assume more responsibility.

Unless Juventus are willing to pay a big fee for Alisson, Liverpool should keep the Brazilian on board for next season - even if it means he leaves for free in 12 months.
