Championship rivals plot move for former Portsmouth man as Wrexham eye £8m Sunderland star

The latest transfer headlines involving Pompey’s Championship rivals.

The summer window is firmly in sight, with the market getting underway in exactly two weeks time on June 15.

There's plenty of business to be done at Fratton Park as John Mousinho looks to strengthen his ranks ahead of the Blues’ third-successive Championship campaign.

It is believed the in-demand 18-year-old is also being tracked by Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, Middlesbrough and Bristol City as his stock grows at Ibrox.

The Scotland youth international becomes the latest name to be touted with a switch to PO4 ahead of the summer window, with the likes of Aribim Pepple and Luke Graham also earmarked.

Elsewhere, gossip and speculation is rife across the division as clubs continue their preparations for the summer window.

Here are the latest transfer headlines involving Pompey’s second-tier rivals.

Stoke City eye ex-Pompey man

Stoke City are interested in West Brom’s Josh Griffiths, according to reports.

Transfer guru Alan Nixon has revealed the Potters are eyeing a summer swoop for the keeper, who is set to enter the final 12 months of his Hawthorns deal.

Mark Robins is apparently targeting the former Pompey man as an ideal back-up for first-choice stopper Viktor Johansson, who penned fresh terms at the bet365 Stadium last month.

Griffiths established himself as number one under Ryan Mason during the first half of the campaign before appearances began to dry up under Eric Ramsay and James Morrison following the arrival of Max O’Leary.

The ex-England youth international totalled 24 Championship outings for the Baggies last term, with his future with the West Midlands outfit currently uncertain heading into the summer window.

The Hawthorns academy graduate arrived under Danny Cowley in July 2022, penning a season-long loan deal at Fratton Park.

Since his frustrating Pompey stay, Griffiths has also spent time on loan with Bristol Rovers.

Wrexham have entered the race to sign in-demand Sunderland man Anthony Patterson this summer.

That’s according to Sky Sports, who have revealed Wrexham are the latest Championship side to register an interest in the 26-year-old.

Coventry City, Southampton, Derby County, West Brom, Wolves and Millwall have all been tipped with a move for the keeper, who is set to depart the Stadium of Light on a permanent basis in the transfer window.

The Black Cats have given the green light for an exit for Paterson, with Regis Le Bris’ side valuing the sought-after shot-stopper for £8m.

Patterson spent the second half of the campaign on loan with Millwall, guiding the Lions to a third-placed finish.
