Keiber Lamadrid has not really featured for West Ham United after he arrived on loan in the winter transfer window.
In a way, the transfer for the Venezuelan winger made little sense, and even after the season ended, that has not changed.
At 22 years old, Lamadrid is not exactly a spring chicken either. He is just coming out of his youthful years and about to hit the stage where results on the pitch are expected.
Lamadrid is only on loan, but the Irons do hold an option to make it permanent for £1million. On first look, you may think it is wise to see him depart
However, ahead of West Ham’s summer business, they may be best making Lamadrid their first signing of the window.

Why West Ham should keep Keiber Lamadrid
At £1m, keeping Lamadrid is really not much of a risk at all for West Ham. Even if Nuno Espirito Santo does not feel he is ready to play in the Championship, the E20 outfit could send him out on loan.
Yes, he has barely shown anything on the pitch, with his appearance against Burton in the FA Cup his sole showcase.

But, at the very minimum, if the transfer does not work out, the Hammers would surely be able to recoup the money they spent to keep him.
It seems like a no-lose situation. The Irons could snap up a cheap gem, with the right loan boosting his career in East London.
Or, they can simply go moneyball by buying Lamadrid and looking to make a profit on him in the near future.
It is not the most glamorous of signings but one that makes perfect sense for the London Stadium side, with Lamadrid’s reported salary not extortionate either.

What has Nuno said about Lamadrid?
Speaking when Lamadrid was signed by West Ham, Nuno admitted that he felt the player was not yet ready for the step-up.
He said: “He’s a young player, that the Club has brought in. He’s not long finished his season, so he’s in the process of pre-season now, and isn’t ready to play. But, we’ll assess him and see.”
In the end, Lamadrid would not be deemed ready to have an impact in the Premier League, but it remains to be seen if his circumstances change in the Championship.
However, as things stand, with West Ham yet to activate the buy option, the 22-year-old is set to return to Deportivo La Guaira.
As a Venezuelan international, he has to be worth a punt.
