The streets of Islington have been “trashed” in the aftermath of Arsenal’s victory parade on Sunday afternoon.
Hundreds of thousands of Arsenal supporters lined the streets around the Emirates Stadium on Sunday as the north London football club celebrated its victory in the Premier League.
As many as 750,000 fans greeted the players in a momentous day for the Gunners, with the celebrations going on into the early hours of Monday morning.
But the aftermath in Islington painted a different image, with streets and roads covered in litter and heaps of rubbish.

Images show littered streets, roads lined with rubbish bags, and remnants of food, vomit and broken glass.
Bins in the area look to be overflowing with takeaway boxes, crates of beer, and empty packaging.
Many took to social media to complain with one user writing that the “streets of London are absolutely trashed with rubbish, alcohol, vomit, and urine by Arsenal revellers,” while others on X branded the neighbourhood “a tragic state” and “a landfill”.
An Islington Boroughwide PSPO (Controlled Drinking Zone) was put in place to prevent anyone drinking in the street. However, much of the street was littered with empty beer cans and drinks tins.
The parade spanned a five-mile loop through Islington, with much of Highbury, Upper Street, Holloway and Seven Sisters now in need of serious cleaning.
Islington Council shared images on X of council workers working to clean up the streets after the estimated a million fans flooded the local area.
The post on Monday afternoon read: “Our teams are working hard to clean up after yesterday’s Arsenal parade - and what a day it was!
“With over a million people attending, it’s a major clean-up. We’re getting through it as quickly as we can, so please bear with us while we get the borough back to its best.”
Two hours later, the council confirmed it had sent in additional staff to assist with the clean up.

Costs of the clean up are expected to be covered by Arsenal Football Club, though the estimated cost is not yet known.
The club has been approached for comment.
Six people were stabbed during the celebration parade and the Met Police is said to have made 24 arrests.
Around 500 police officers had been sent into the Islington area to control the crowds. One officer was left with a slash on the hand while another was hit on the head.
London Fire Brigade was also called to the celebrations as a stray flare hit a hotel causing a small fire.
The brigade also rescued approximately 75 people from incidents “at height” during the event.
