A few years back was when the Saudi Pro League started raiding the top European leagues for stars to help bolster the teams of their league, with some of the higher-profile moves including that of Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane to Al-Nassr, Karim Benzema to Al-Ittihad, or Neymar to Al-Hilal.
Another one of the moves was that of Moussa Diaby, who was sold by Aston Villa to Al-Ittihad in the summer of 2024 for a fee of € 60 million, which brought a lone season in the West Midlands to an end, one in which he scored 10 goals and dished out nine assists.
His goal involvement numbers haven’t changed all that much during his time with Al-Ittihad, while his 13 involvements in the 2025-26 campaign were the lowest of his career since his time with Paris Saint-Germain, it has been enough for him to catch the eyes of teams around Europe.
Diaby's potential suitors in Europe
According to Fussballdaten’s Tim Bosnjak, Diaby is being watched by both Manchester United and Inter Milan, with the Italian side being seen as the more notable admirer of the French winger.
“Manchester United are monitoring Diaby's situation, but the greater interest is coming from Italy,” writes Bosnjak. “Inter Milan, in particular, remain very keen.”
A move to either of the aforementioned teams would see Diaby return to a familiar league, as he was in the English top flight with the aforementioned Villans, as well as spending a lone season with Crotone in Serie A back in the 2017/18 campaign.
This hasn’t been the first time that the Italian side has been interested in acquiring the French forward, according to Bosnjak, as they sent an offer to Al-Ittihad in the winter transfer window.
“The Nerazzurri already tried to sign the 26-year-old in the winter transfer window, but Al-Ittihad rejected their offer,” states Bosnjak.
The Red Devils would be keen on securing the French forward’s signature, given the uncertain future of Marcus Rashford at Old Trafford, with a potential move back to Barcelona being on the cards. With the Mancunians preparing to play in the Champions League for the first time in three seasons, they could be looking to add depth up front.
