Nottingham Forest pursuing deal for 26-year-old – Loan exit ‘most realistic option’

Nottingham Forest have emerged as new contender to sign Juventus’ Loïs Openda this summer.

The Serie A side initially signed the striker on loan from RB Leipzig in September 2025 and already made his stay permanent.

Juventus aren’t happy with his overall performances but that hasn’t put off Nottingham Forest and a few other clubs.

There was a lot of expectations on the 26-year-old to deliver, but he failed to impress. To put it in context, he scored two goals from 37 matches, and one was in the league.

Nottingham Forest to tussle for signing

Therefore, Luciano Spalletti’s side are looking to offload the Belgium international in the upcoming window.

That’s according to Tutto Juve, who report on Nottingham Forest’s interest and Juventus’ stance on him.

The Old Lady invested over €40m to buy him and their aim is to recover a large part of the fee invested, to avoid a significant loss. This is possible via a permanent transfer but that seems highly unlikely after the season Loïs Openda has had.

Therefore, a loan exit currently is the ‘most realistic option’, with an option or obligation to buy. When discussing his suitors, Vítor Pereira’s side get a mention.

The Reds, AS Monaco and Eintracht Frankfurt are all interested in pursuing a deal for the frontman.

Nottingham Forest believe the Belgian can relaunch himself at the City Ground after a disappointing season. The two other clubs share the same feeling and could tussle with the Premier League side for his signature.

However, Openda’s salary is a ‘real obstacle’ to conclude the operation. The exact figure is not mentioned but it’s a challenge for clubs like the Ligue 1 side.

Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, Leeds United and Coventry City are also in the picture to sign him.

Contract, value and agent info

Loïs Openda’s contract with the Italian club runs down in 2030, and Transfermarkt value him at €25m.

The highest value was €60m in March 2024, when he was at RB Leipzig. Belgian agency Stirr Associates, headed by agent Stijn Francis, represent the striker.
