According to Fabrizio Romano, via CalcioMercato.it, Icardi has already indicated his openness to a return to Italian football, the league where he made his name during spells at Sampdoria and Inter between 2011 and 2019.
His four-year stint at Galatasaray yielded 77 goals and 25 assists in 134 appearances, demonstrating that his instinct for goal remains as sharp as ever despite the lower profile of the Turkish league.

Juventus, Milan and Roma lead Icardi chase as Gasperini identified as key factor in Giallorossi interest
Juventus are perhaps the most obvious suitors, with the club in need of a striker following the uncertainty surrounding Dusan Vlahovic’s future.
Milan’s interest is less defined given the ongoing leadership vacuum at the club, but Icardi’s profile as an experienced, prolific centre-forward fits the attacking reinforcement they desperately need.
At Roma, it is reported that Gian Piero Gasperini is a significant admirer of the Argentine’s goalscoring instincts and is seeking a deputy for Donyell Malen.
Como, Lazio and Fiorentina are also monitoring the situation, though all three are considered less likely destinations at this stage.
Icardi would arrive on a free transfer, an increasingly rare opportunity to add a proven goalscorer at no cost, though his salary demands will require careful consideration from any interested party.
