Tottenham will take notice of latest Dusan Vlahovic twist, but there is a £370k problem

There has been a major development regarding the future of Dusan Vlahovic, who has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

With Randal Kolo Muani’s loan spell coming to an end and with Richarlison’s future at Spurs uncertain, the Lilywhites are likely to enter the market to sign a new number nine to compete with Dominic Solanke.

It has been reported over recent months that Tottenham have been regularly informed of Vlahovic’s situation as the striker edged closer to the end of his contract at Juventus.

In fact, Spurs were even installed as one of the favourites to land the Serbian this summer, before the transfer saga took a turn.

Juventus confirm Tottenham target Dusan Vlahovic is leaving

The speculation linking the 26-year-old with a move to N17 had died down completely over recent weeks as it was reported that Vlahovic was nearing an agreement with Juventus on a new contract.

However, there has now been another major twist, as Juventus director Giorgio Chiellini has publicly confessed that the striker is on his way out of Turin as the Bianconeri cannot meet his wage demands.

Chiellini said (via Fabrizio Romano): “I’m sad, I wanted Dusan to stay as he cares about our club… but wants a higher salary. At current salary conditions, he will not stay in Italy”.

This development could serve as a green light for Tottenham Hotspur and many of his other suitors to initiate talks with the centre-forward.

Rather worryingly though, Dusan Vlahovic already earns a reported £370k-per-week at Juventus, and an increase on that would put him at almost double Tottenham’s highest earner. That would surely leave only Saudi Arabia as a realistic option for the striker this summer.

Spurs’ changing transfer strategy makes Vlahovic an obvious target

Tottenham are expected to complete two free signings soon, with Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson set to be announced as Spurs players.

That represents a clear change in the club’s transfer strategy, with the Lilywhites able to compete and win the race for free signings by offering them competitive wages.

A chance to sign a striker of Vlahovic’s quality on a free may be too tempting for Tottenham to turn down, and one would imagine that the Lilywhites would be willing to meet his wage demands.
