Newcastle Targets to Spend Anthony Gordon’s Sale Money Keep Emerging

Newcastle United are expected to move quickly after Anthony Gordon’s planned £70million move to Barcelona, and The Mirror’s Tom Sunderland offered a few options the Magpies might try to sign during the next few days and weeks following Gordon’s sale.

One of those targets is Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, who could turn into one of a few major moves Newcastle could make this summer as Eddie Howe looks to rebuild a squad that could only finish 12th in the Premier League this season.

“One name generating significant buzz around Newcastle is that of Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara,” Sunderland wrote. “It’s anticipated the Senegal international would cost Newcastle a minimum of around £45m. However, that’s simply the price of landing one of Europe’s most exciting rising talents.”

Camara has been heavily linked with a move to St James’ Park, with Newcastle expected to strengthen their midfield if Sandro Tonali or another senior player leaves, as expected.

Replacing Gordon is obviously another major part of Newcastle’s rebuilding plan, considering his place in the XI for the past few years. Sunderland listed West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen and Man City’s Savinho as possible attacking options, with Bowen potentially available following the Hammer’s relegation.

“At 29, Bowen is marginally older than the Magpies might ideally want in an attacking signing,” Sunderland wrote. “However, his ability to operate across the front line… may prove too tempting an opportunity to pass up.

“A further option is Manchester City’s Savinho, who is said to be attracting attention from both Newcastle and Tottenham. The Brazilian is considerably less established in the Premier League but a departure from City could allow the winger to rediscover the sparkling Girona form that first brought him to the fore.”

The report also states Newcastle want a goalkeeper and a right-back, with James Trafford, Gregory Kobel, Ewen Jaouen, Oscar Mingueza and Josh Acheampong floated as potential targets.
