Tottenham in contact for signing – Have wilcard to help get deal done

Tottenham Hotspur are set to sign Marcos Senesi, but he’s unlikely to be their only defensive signing.

Juventus’ Bremer, who will play at the World Cup for Brazil this month, is now being linked. He had an injury-affected 2025/26 campaign in Turin but whenever he played, his impact was clear to see.

There was a point in the season when his presence was key to Juve losing just once in 12 Serie A games. This helped them rise up the table after Igor Tudor’s sacking.

Juve missed out on Champions League qualification. Sport Witness have covered how this can lead to Bremer’s departure from Juve, with Manchester United also linked recently.

Now, it is Tottenham who are said to be working to sign him.

Discussions on between clubs

Today’s TuttoSport are confident that Bremer is now at the top of Roberto De Zerbi’s wish-list of defenders. He knows the Brazilian from his time in Serie A and Bremer is seen as a replacement for Cristian Romero.

The 29-year-old is looking for a change of scenery and is open to moving to Tottenham. He is seeking a new challenge and his current deal has a release clause worth €58m. This will be applicable between July 1st and August 10th.

This is a key talking point for the two clubs, who are discussing a possible deal. The Bianconeri are waiting for the right offer to be made and would accept less than the figure.

Spurs are trying to insert Guglielmo Vicario in the move, knowing that Juve are desperate for a goalkeeper signing. This is described as Tottenham’s ‘wildcard’ in any talks.

The Italy international is keen to return to Italy and would ‘walk to Juve from London’. Tottenham value him at €20m and aren’t keen on a loan or a discount.

This would reduce the cash amount Spurs would have to pay for Bremer. It is possible that the two could be separate deals but accounting wise, it would help both the clubs.

Our take: Two clubs have likely touched base

It feels like the two clubs have spoken but haven’t gone into the details.

Tottenham seem to be pushing for Brighton’s Jean Pal Van Hecke. If they sign the Dutchman, they might not need another centre-back to replace Romero. They would need only a replacement for Radu Dragusin and that would have to be a younger profile than Bremer.

Besides, the report clarifies that the 29-year-old is now aiming to win silverware. The way things are at Tottenham, they are starting a completely new project from scratch. Joining them at this point of his career may not be hugely attractive.
