Juventus reportedly agree to three-year deal with World Cup winner

This summer is set to be a huge one for Emiliano Martinez, as he is set to defend his and Argentina’s title as FIFA World Cup Winners when the global spectacle kicks off in just a few days' time.

Martinez’s quick thinking, antics on the goal line, and lightning-fast reaction speed were among the reasons that his national team ended their 36-year drought of being crowned champions of the world.

That wouldn’t be the only drought that Martinez had played a big role in ending, as he proved to provide some serious heroics for Aston Villa this season, as the West Midlands side lifted the Europa League trophy, having taken down Bundesliga side FC Freiburg, 3-0, with the Argentinian making two saves in the final.

Martinez to Serie A?

While he’s been a mainstay at Villa Park for quite some time, it appears that he could be making a move to the Allianz Stadium over the summer, making it quite the busy season for the 33-year-old.

As reported by Matteo Moretto and corroborated by 433, the Italian giants have made significant progress on bringing in the Arengtinan, with both sides agreeing to a three-year deal.

A move, if to happen, would see Martinez swap out Champions League football for that of the Europa League, given Juventus’ third-place finish last season. It’d also give the Italian side an opportunity to bolster their already solid goalkeeping department, with the team only allowing 34 goals in the previous campaign, the third lowest in the Serie A.

According to the report by 433, given that the contract situation is taken care of, it is now between the two clubs to agree to a fee, with the Villans looking for a fee in the range of €15 million, which the Italian giants aren’t looking to pay.

It’ll be yet another storyline regarding the Argentinian to follow this summer as he gets between the sticks for his national team as they look to lift the coveted trophy once again.
