Not Vicario: Juventus Interested in ‘Outstanding’ World Cup-Bound Spurs Ace

Italian giants Juventus have emerged as serious contenders for Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence as they look to overhaul their full-back options.

[According to reports from Italy](https://www.sportmediaset.mediaset.it/mercato/juventus/juve-sondaggio-con-il-tottenham-per-spence-lo-manda-ottolini_113045644-202602k.shtml), the Bianconeri hierarchy have identified the versatile 25-year-old Englishman as a transfer target.

Juventus are hoping to use strong internal connections to boost their chances of signing Spence. Sporting director Marco Ottolini has a direct relationship with the player, having previously overseen Spence’s loan to Genoa as part of the January 2024 deal that sent Radu Dragusin to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spence enjoyed a decent 2025/26 campaign under Roberto De Zerbi, reviving his career after a series of mixed loan spells.

The dynamic wing-back made 44 appearances in all competitions, establishing himself as a key tactical asset thanks to his ability to play comfortably on both the left and right flanks. His performances earned him a place in England’s squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup in North America.

For Juventus, signing Spence from Tottenham will not be straightforward, as the defender has a contract running until June 2029, giving Spurs full leverage in negotiations.

However, Tottenham could be open to a sale, having already brought in Andrew Robertson on a free transfer. While Juventus see the [‘outstanding’](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/djed-spence-ange-postecoglou-england-genoa-leeds-b2702649.html) Spence as a priority target, any move is dependent on the departure of Andrea Cambiaso, who is attracting interest from several clubs, including Barcelona.

The Bianconeri are also keeping their options open, monitoring AS Roma’s Zeki Celik as a low-cost alternative should a move for Spence not materialise.
