Aston Villa have Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki on their radar if they have to replace Emiliano Martinez this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Villa hero has been linked with a move away from the Villa Park club again, and Villans manager Unai Emery is preparing for life without him.
Juventus want Martinez and are in talks with his representatives, but club-to-club talks have not started.
Villa have been scouting Suzuki for several months, with two other options on their radar.
The 23-year-old Japan international was once linked with Manchester United and a move to the Premier League could be on the cards.
The Villa target boasts ‘unbelievable reflexes’ and can also launch long throws for counterattack purposes.
Suzuki is known for throwing balls 20 metres over the halfway line and the Villans could do with such a skill.
He is also comfortable on the ball and Emery needs a ball-playing goalie to replace Martinez if need be.
Suzuki is an expert in making low saves as he is so quick to get down, but he is also brilliant in catching crosses, ranking second in Europe’s major leagues for most crosses caught in 2024-25.
The Japanese caught 55 crosses for Parma that season, 21 more than his nearest rival in Serie A, with only Barcelona’s Joan Garcia making more with 60 in Europe’s major leagues, while Martinez caught 52 crosses.
Suzuki is a complete goalie and it is clear to see why Villa are convinced that he has what to it takes to replace the Argentinian maestro in goal.
