Attempt to sign Aston Villa player for just €5m – Villa obviously not playing that game

Juventus have been trying to sign Aston Villa‘s Emi Martinez for all of this month. Their task will be far from easy, and the Turin club perhaps need to get realistic.

The keeper will play at the World Cup this month, as Argentina look to defend their title. He remains their first-choice, having won the Europa League and taken the Villans back to the Champions League under Unai Emery.

Sport Witness have covered how his entourage has offered him to Juve. This has led to contact between the two parties, with Martinez demanding €7m per season after tax.

Juve were also seeking a formal meeting with his agents to iron out personal terms. After that, they were prepared to initiate discussions with Aston Villa as well.

In Italy, updates are emerging about the Bianconeri’s first offer.

Offer too low

TuttoSport report the Argentine is helping streamline relations between the two clubs. His entourage is working to do the same, with the player happy to lower his wages to join the club.

While this can play a big role, Juve’s first offer is quite disappointing. They have offered only €5m, which is similar to the strategy they followed in the chase for Alisson. The idea is to start with a low base and then see how things proceed.

Aston Villa’s stance is quite clear, as things stand. They want at least €15m to let Martinez go. The newspaper believe their valuation is ‘poorly calculated’, which is why Juve want to bring it down.
