Aston Villa star already house-hunting – Clearly confident transfer is happening

Emiliano Martínez

DEVENTER, NETHERLANDS – OCTOBER 23: goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez of Aston Villa during the UEFA Europa League, League Phase MD3 match between Go Ahead Eagles and Aston Villa FC

Despite initial doubts, Juventus’ move for Aston Villa‘s Emiliano Martinez is encouraging confidence in the player.

Earlier this week, Sport Witness covered how their bid for the Argentine was much lower than the demand. The Villans value the player at €15m, which was proving too high for the Old Lady.

The keeper has appeared interested in a move to Turin. He has expressed a willingness to to lower his salary to help the move.

Contacts between his entourage and Juve have been ongoing for a while. This was driving the move forward, with Martinez’s agent also keen on ironing out a deal.

Martinez house hunting

Gianluca Di Marzio spoke to the Tuttomercatoweb podcast and the Argentina international was a key talking point.

He made it clear that new Juve CEO Giovanni Carnevali could be key to making a move happen. He has a very good relationship with the Aston Villa player’s agents.

“He’s voting for him because he has a very good relationship with Martinez’s agents, which began last year with a deal that brought Matic to Sassuolo. The agents are the same and the deal is very similar, a graft of charisma, personality, and leadership to a team that needs those characteristics.”

Further, Di Marzio claimed that Martinez is looking for a house in Turin. He also sees Juve as the final destination of his career.

Displaying optimism about a deal, the Italian said: “Dibu Martinez is already looking for a place in Turin. This shows how much he feels like a Juventus player, how much he wants Juve, how much he considers Juventus the final step in his career, a chance to win something more in Europe.

“It’s precisely because of this desire for Juventus that the Bianconeri believe they have Martinez under their thumb.”

Aston Villa negotiating stance

Di Marzio also pointed out that the situation could prove to be a dilemma for Aston Villa. They could hold out for a higher price and ruin their relationship with the player and his agents. Alternatively they could let him go cheaply and perhaps even give a golden goodbye, in terms of a bonus.

The last part appears unlikely.

“But Aston Villa is faced with a choice: either ask a high price for Dibu Martinez or sever the relationship with him, who instead feels he deserves to be released on favourable terms, perhaps even including compensation with bonuses as a form of recognition for what he has done for this club.”
