Spanish media claim Real Madrid have made a bold decision on Victor Munoz's Newcastle United…

Newcastle United are reportedly hoping to land a deal for Osasuna and Spain winger Victor Munoz.

Real Madrid will continue to play a major influence on the future of reported Newcastle United transfer target Victor Munoz as the Magpies edge closer to securing their second signing of the summer transfer window.

French youngster Ewen Jaouen was the first new arrival earlier this month when the France Under-21 goalkeeper put the finishing touches on a deal believed to be worth an initial £18.5m. Newcastle are working hard to add further new faces to their squad and are now believed to be in talks over a possible move for Manchester City and England goalkeeper James Trafford as they look to land the former Burnley stopper at the third attempt after missing out on securing his services twice in the last three years.

The Magpies are also believed to be keen to boost their options in wide areas following Anthony Gordon’s big money move to La Liga champions Barcelona - and reports have suggested they have identified Osasuna star Munoz as their prime target after he scored seven goals and provided five assists in 36 appearances in all competitions last season to help the Pamplona-based club avoid relegation from Spanish football’s top flight. However, a major claim has been made about Munoz’s future as talks continue between the two clubs.

Spanish outlet AS have claimed Real have not objected against Munoz’s potential move to Tyneside and have opted against triggering a buy-back clause in the agreement that took him to Osasuna last summer - but the La Liga giants will reportedly maintain a similar clause the first year of his time with the Magpies if a deal is completed over the coming weeks.

However, sources at Newcastle have played down the suggestion such a clause will be inserted.

The initial buy-back clause has reportedly ensured Newcastle have been involved in a three-way negotiation in recent weeks as they looked to agree a fee with Osasuna and move closer to making their second signing of the summer. Real will also receive a percentage of the reported £30m fee Newcastle will pay for the winger, who is currently on international duty with Spain at the World Cup.
