Tottenham are planning to potentially replace Juventus-linked Djed Spence.
Roberto De Zerbi laid down his transfer demands in front of the Tottenham Hotspur hierarchy after guiding the club to safety in the Premier League on the final day of last season. So far, he has got his wishes fulfilled.
Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi have been snapped up as free agents from Liverpool and Bournemouth, respectively. De Zerbi has also played a key role in Pedro Porro committing his future to the club by signing a new contract. The Italian tactician is now seeking a reunion with Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke, while talks between Spurs and Manchester City continue for winger Savinho.
A number of Spurs’ fringe players could also find new homes, as De Zerbi looks to reshape his squad. Djed Spence is one of those linked with an exit. Juventus have emerged as serious contenders to sign the Tottenham full-back. They have identified Spence as Andrea Cambiaso’s replacement. And it looks like Spurs are preparing themselves in case he departs.
Tottenham initiate contact with Atalanta full-back
Recent reports indicate Tottenham’s interest in signing Atalanta full-back Marco Palestra. The 21-year-old spent the 2025/26 season on loan with Cagliari, where he registered a goal and four assists in 37 Serie A appearances. The Italian’s displays in Serie A have not only caught the attention of Spurs but several other clubs across Europe.
Now, according to Italian football insider Damiano Er Faina on X, Tottenham have ‘contacts underway’ with both Palestra’s camp and Atalanta. The Bergamo-based club want no less than €50m to sell the talented full-back.
Palestra recently confirmed his desire to join a bigger club after his breakout season on loan at Cagliari, which boosted his confidence levels. Tottenham could do well with having the Italian international in their ranks if Spence departs this summer, and at 21, he’d develop very well under the watchful eyes of De Zerbi. Quick, strong, technically secure and versatile, the Atalanta man could be a fine long-term replacement for Spence.
Perhaps, the Lilywhites view Palestra as the experienced Porro’s eventual successor, as he has the talent and potential to become one of the best in his position. Now that Tottenham have begun contacts with both Palestra’s camp and Atalanta, it remains to be seen whether our officials end up tabling an offer in the coming days.
