6ft4 midfielder is waiting for Liverpool after rejecting big Saudi offer, fee is £42m

Juventus are trying to raise funds this summer, opening the door for Liverpool or Manchester United to sign French midfielder Khephren Thuram.

The 2025-26 season was something of a disaster for Liverpool, failing to defend their Premier League title before ultimately finishing fifth although their Champions League qualification means they won’t suffer a massive financial loss for their performance.

While injuries certainly played a damaging role, the tactical confusion that was evident saw Arne Slot sacked at the end of the season. Andoni Iraola replaced the Dutchman and he now faces the challenge of restoring Liverpool to a competitive place.

There are a number of positions in need of bolstering, with midfield a particularly big concern. Alexis Mac Allister was a shadow of himself, while Ryan Gravenberch also looked diminished. Dominik Szoboszlai was the only midfielder who operated at a high level, scoring 13 and assisting 12 goals.

The Hungarian will be a monster under Iraola, but he needs to be surrounded by similarly elite operators.

Thuram is an all-rounder in the truest sense.

Can receive off the CBs, carry through pressure, arrive in the final third and contribute defensively. Long strides eat up ground effortlessly while his physical profile allows him to dominate both ground and aerial duels.

Liverpool want more bite in midfield and Khephren Thuram could be the solution

According to reports from Italian outlet TuttoJuve, Juventus need to raise funds to compete in the summer transfer window, and they may sell Thuram to make way for new signings.

Liverpool, Manchester United, and Saudi Pro League Al-Ahli are all keen on signing the 1.92m (6ft4) midfield monster.

TuttoJuve reports that Al-Ahli have submitted a bid to sign Thuram, the 25-year-old in an attempt to beat Liverpool and United to his signature.

TuttoSport, however, claims that Thuram rejected the idea of moving to Saudi Arabia, preferring to wait for Liverpool or United to sign him.

Khephren #Thuram is not tempted in joining #AlAhli, despite a huge bid received. The french midfielder had turned down the approaches from the Saudi Clubs last year. He would like to stay at #Juventus. If #Juve decide to sell him, KT would like to sign for a Premier League’s club

Juventus are willing to sell the Frenchman for 50million (£43m), which is a decent price for a player who meets the profile of a serious need in the Liverpool midfield.

While Gravenberch excelled in the No.6 role in the 2025 Premier League title triumph, his talents are wasted in being a mere shield for the back four. He is also not nearly as combative as someone like Thuram.

It’s not clear yet whether or not Liverpool will actually give Thuram his wish of moving to Anfield, but he’s certainly a player who would give them something they currently lack.
