Tottenham outcast is being tracked by Serie A heavyweights.
Tottenham Hotspur have been extremely active since the start of the summer. They have already announced two signings, whilst agreeing a deal with Brighton for the transfer of Jan Paul van Hecke.
Spurs’ defensive rebuild has been prioritised by Roberto De Zerbi. The signings of Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi, with Van Hecke set to follow, has put the futures of several Tottenham defenders in jeopardy. One of those is Radu Dragusin.
It was certainly a difficult season for Radu Dragusin. The defender struggled for game time after recovering from an ACL injury, limiting him to just five Premier League starts. Those starts, however, did not come under De Zerbi; instead arriving under Thomas Frank and Igor Tudor. With the player and his camp unhappy with the lack of game time, several clubs from Serie A have shown interest in the 24-year-old.
Juventus revive interest in Radu Dragusin
Fiorentina Sporting Director Fabio Paratici has been eyeing a move for the Romanian international. Florian Manea, Dragusin’s agent, has admitted he is waiting to hold talks with Tottenham to find out what they have planned for his client. Now, there’s another club from Serie A showing interest in the Spurs defender.
According to Italian newspaper TuttoSport, Juventus have revived their interest in Dragusin. There was contact between his entourage and Juventus sporting director Marco Ottolini recently, with Tottenham keen on a sale.
The Lilywhites are ready to listen to offers between €20 million and €25 million for the central defender amid interest from Serie A clubs. Due to his past Serie A experience, a return to Italy’s top-flight remains an enticing prospect for the big Romanian. Juventus made an enquiry for Dragusin on the January transfer deadline day, but Spurs blocked a move in the wake of an injury crisis. Now, the North Londoners are not going to stand in Juve’s way if they wish to pursue a move for him.
The Bucharest-born star managed just one Serie A appearance for Juventus before being sold to Genoa. The Turin giants want him back to strengthen their defence, but the report adds that they will have to sacrifice one of Federico Gatti, Gleison Bremer or Lloyd Kelly to finance a move for Dragusin.
The 24-year-old needs to reignite his career after failing to cut the mustard in the Premier League with Tottenham, and there is no better place than Serie A for him to do that. A return to Juve might give him the sort of regularity and stability he requires in his career.
