With Everton and Leeds United in the hunt for Lois Openda, it is Crystal Palace who are pushing for the striker.
The Belgian has done next to nothing to make a mark at Juventus. He scored just once in Serie A, falling out of favour under manager Luciano Spalletti.
Despite that, Juve were forced to sign him permanently for a hefty €40m. This is because RB Leipzig secured a conditional obligation to buy, if the Old Lady finished inside the top ten.
The 26-year-old looked a shadow of himself, struggling both physically and technically.
Now, attempts to sell the player are intensifying. Sport Witness have covered Coventry City’s interest in the forward but Crystal Palace, Everton and Leeds United are also in the hunt.
Multiple clubs now keen
TuttoJuve report interest in the Belgian is growing and Juve are aiming to sell him as soon as possible. They would also favour a sale to England, even if clubs in France are also in the race.
To make sure Openda leaves, Juve are happy to consider flexible loan deals.
This has attracted Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Everton. But it is Crystal Palace who appear most keen and have held preliminary discussions for his signing.
New manager Pierre Sage likes the ex-Leipzig star’s profile and is a fan of his technical abilities. As a result, he is viewed as a player who can add value to the Eagles’ system from next season onwards.
The only hold-up in the deal could be the player’s wages, which stand at €7.4m per season.
Juve likely pushing things
Juve are trying their best to drum up interest in their failed asset. This is leading them to link as many clubs as possible to Openda.
A deal will be a risk for all of Everton, Crystal Palace or Leeds United. Openda seems to have declined physically and that will not help in the Premier League.
Even if a loan deal would be relatively risk-free, there is little to say that a move can work out. If he returns to Germany or France, he will find himself in a much more suited environment and can use that to get his career back on track.
